Ants often find their way into homes in spring and summer, looking for food and moisture.
Most kinds are a nuisance. Carpenter ants are different — they hollow out wood to build nests and can damage window frames, decks and other wood over time.
Spraying the ants you see rarely solves the problem, because the colony keeps sending more. Our approach targets the colony itself.

Signs of an ant problem
Ants usually show up looking for food or moisture. Look for:
Ant trails
Lines of ants along counters, baseboards or windowsills, often leading to food.
Large black ants in early spring
Carpenter ants indoors in late winter or early spring can mean the nest is inside the home.
Sawdust-like debris
Small piles of fine wood shavings, called frass, near windows, door frames or baseboards.
Winged ants indoors
Groups of winged ants inside, which often means a nest nearby.
Mounds outside
Small soil mounds along the driveway, between patio stones or beside the foundation.
Common ants in GTA homes
Carpenter ants are large and usually black. They nest in damp or damaged wood and can cause structural damage if left alone.
Argentine ants are small and brown. They form long trails and large colonies with many queens.
Acrobat ants raise their heart-shaped abdomen over their head when disturbed. They often nest in damp wood or insulation.
Crazy ants move fast and erratically instead of in straight lines, and can turn up indoors in large numbers.
Carpenter ant damage
Carpenter ants don't eat wood. They tunnel through it to build nests, and they prefer wood that's already soft from moisture — around leaky windows, roofs, decks and bathrooms.
Signs of damage include frass, hollow-sounding wood and smooth tunnels inside. Treating the nest early helps limit damage, and fixing moisture problems helps keep them from coming back.
When ants are most active
Ants are busiest from spring through late summer, and many people first see them indoors as the weather warms up. Calling early in the season keeps a colony from getting established.
Our ant control process
Different ants need different treatment, so identifying the species comes first.
Step 1: Inspect
We identify the ant, follow the trails and look for nests inside and outside.
Step 2: Plan
We explain what kind of ants you have and how we'll treat them. You receive a quote and approve the price before any treatment begins.
Step 3: Treat
We use baits that worker ants carry back to the colony, plus a targeted perimeter treatment around the outside of your home.
Step 4: Follow up & prevent
We share tips on moisture, food and entry points. Follow-up visits may be recommended or included depending on the service package.
How to prepare for ant treatment
Ant treatment needs a little help from you. You'll usually be asked to:
- Give us access to the problem areas, inside and out.
- Avoid using sprays we haven't approved.
- Don't disturb or wipe away the bait once it's placed.
Final preparation instructions will be provided based on the treatment method and product requirements.
