Cockroaches hide in warm, tight spaces close to food and water. For every one you see, there are usually many more behind cabinets and appliances.

They contaminate food and surfaces, and they multiply fast. Sprays from the store may kill the few you see but miss the rest.

We treat cockroaches in houses, condos, apartments and restaurants, and we focus on the places they live and breed.

Signs of a cockroach problem

Cockroaches come out mostly at night, so the signs often show up before the bugs do. Watch for:

  • Roaches when the lights go on

Cockroaches running for cover when you switch on a light in the kitchen or bathroom.

  • Droppings

Tiny black specks, like ground pepper or coffee grounds, in drawers, cupboards and along shelves.

  • Egg cases

Small brown capsules in corners, behind appliances or near cabinet hinges.

  • Shed skins and dead roaches

Pale skins or dead cockroaches under sinks, behind the fridge or inside appliances.

  • A musty odour

A stale, oily smell in cupboards or closed spaces as numbers grow.

Common cockroaches in the GTA

German cockroaches are the most common indoors. They're small and light brown, with two dark stripes behind the head, and they live in kitchens and bathrooms — often inside appliances.

American cockroaches are much larger and reddish-brown. They prefer basements, drains and other damp areas.

Brown-banded cockroaches are small, with light bands across the body. They often hide away from the kitchen, in bedrooms, closets and behind picture frames or electronics.

Each species behaves differently, so identifying the right one matters for treatment.

Cockroaches in apartments and restaurants

In apartments and condos, cockroaches travel between units through plumbing, wall voids and shared garbage areas. If you live in a multi-unit building, let your property manager know so nearby units can be checked.

In restaurants and other food businesses, roaches put health inspections and your reputation at risk. Regular monitoring and quick treatment keep small problems from growing.

Our cockroach treatment process

Cockroaches come back if you only treat the ones you see. We go after the hiding spots and the conditions that let them thrive.

  1. Step 1: Inspect

We check kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, cupboards and wall gaps to confirm the species and find where they're nesting.

  2. Step 2: Plan

We explain what we found and what needs to be prepared. You receive a quote and approve the price before any treatment begins.

  3. Step 3: Treat

We place bait in the cracks and gaps where roaches travel and apply targeted residual treatments to the spots where they hide.

  4. Step 4: Follow up & prevent

We give you sanitation advice to cut off food and water. Follow-up visits may be recommended or included depending on the service package.

How to prepare for cockroach treatment

Good preparation helps the treatment work where roaches live. You'll usually be asked to:

  • Clean up food residue on counters, floors, appliances and around the stove.
  • Secure food in sealed containers or put it away.
  • Give us access to the kitchen and bathroom.

Final preparation instructions will be provided based on the treatment method and product requirements.

Service warranty available, conditions apply. Subject to following our preparation and prevention recommendations.

Common questions

Why do I have cockroaches when my home is clean?
Cockroaches need very little to survive. A leaky pipe, a few crumbs or a gap shared with a neighbouring unit is enough. They can also arrive in grocery boxes, bags and used appliances.
How long does it take to get rid of cockroaches?
It depends on the species and how established they are. Bait takes time to work through the population, so you may still see some roaches at first. Follow-up visits may be recommended or included depending on the service package.
Are cockroaches a health risk?
They can spread bacteria to food and surfaces, and their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma in some people. That's why it's worth dealing with them quickly.
Do I need to leave during treatment?
Your technician will advise you about safety precautions, any temporary vacancy requirement and the correct re-entry time before treatment.
Do you treat restaurants and commercial kitchens?
Yes. We offer cockroach control for restaurants and other food businesses, with inspection, monitoring and sanitation advice. See our commercial pest control page for details.
What does the inspection include?
We find out which cockroach you have, where it's hiding and what's attracting it. You receive a quote and approve the price before any treatment begins.
